Fender Guitars (Spirit of Rock N Roll) Music Poster Print - 24" X 36"ReviewsIt's a great poster, but buyer beware...Although it says it's a 24" X 36" it's really only 22" X 34" and won't fit in a standard poster size frame. Average Rating:![]() |

Set of 4 Resin GUITAR ORNAMENTS/BASS/Electric/ACCOUSTIC/FenderReviewsIf I wanted the Fabrege Egg equivalent of a guitar ornament I'd save up and commission one. Given the price, how cool they look and feel, that they include a blue bass (for me), and that they made the boy's day, I'd say they are perfect. I actually thought they were hand-painted, hand-cut and sanded wood until I read another review stating they are resin. I couldn't tell and I don't care. That they made a kid happy and look good on his tree is all that matters to me. They do feel substantial and I assume they will last many years. People. One thing you don't know about Metamorpho is that he collects these things. Christmas Tree Ornaments are a very essential and special aspect of the holiday. It's little considerations such as this that will add so much to your enjoyment. Why, I can remember vividly the collections I've had over the years. There was the Madonna Collection. They were attractive but very unsteady. They had a habit of falling off the tree and rolling around on the floor. Not to mention the 3 Stooges assortment. They seemed like they never stayed on one branch. And, ironically. Moe's eyes were always poked by a stray pine needle. Very curious. Then, let's not forget the eight reindeer limited edition. It came with the deer (all of them!), a sleigh and Santa. Unfortunately, I must have gotten them in a bad year. When the Philharmonic went on strike, I think the deer did too. Why? Everytime I turned around, Santa was being bopped out of the tree by a stray hoof. They all blamed Rudolph. Jealousy, no doubt. Anyway, this is a wonderful collection, especially if you have a guitar player in the household. I like the fact that they included different types of guitars here. I play the guitar and my dreadnought acoustic is represented here. As others have said, they are very durable. And the complaint about the paint is very valid. But I wouldn't worry so much. Just don't put them too close to a tree light. Problem solved! These are very inexpensive and so, before Santa comes with his reindeer, it would behoove you to purchase many of these. Also, in the future, when they release the Rock Star collection, how cool would it be to place Clapton near the electric and Dylan near the acoustic? I tell ya folks, that Metamorpho is always thinking ahead. Anyway, these are cheap but affordable in today's economic climate. Get them! But remember to change the strings each year. Helpful Holiday Hints by------ Metamorpho ;) These were a gift for my boyfriend who loves guitars. They came very fast which was great (I am a late shopper). some of the paint jobs were a little messy, but over it was a great product and very cute. can't wait for him to hang it on his first Christmas tree! These arrived each wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a bubble envelope. Sadly, they are cute, but the paint job on the ones I received are poor. (See pictures) I plan on giving these to my Guitar Instructor, and hope he thinks the same as me, kitchy cute, but made in China so I guess the quality is what it is. They seem sturdy, resin not plastic. Very cute. They are about the size of the palm of your hand. Nice and strong resin, not plastic. Average Rating:![]() |

Fender Presents: Getting Started on Acoustic Guitar -- A Guide for BeginnersReviewsThe dvd navigation was not consistent with the written materials and did not present a complete menu. Items were referenced that could not be found on the menu. Perhaps an Amazon issue in handling my return as my request for a replacement was not fulfilled. This DVD is okay, you see and hear different chords being used to learn in the lessons. It was not what I expected though. If you're just getting started with guitar, this will be a big help. It's well organized, easy to follow and gives very clear instructions. If you've already got some chords down and can keep a rhythm with the right hand, you probably won't get much from this DVD. I play this DVD with my 61 inch TV so it's as if Mr. Wyatt is sitting right in front of me, except that I get to rewind and pause any part I need. His teaching style is very easy to follow and the instructions are divided in different categories that enables me to go back and review whenever I like. The temp of the instructions are just right and there are also tons of reference materials. I initially thought of taking lessons from a friend of my sisters but was worried that it will cost too much in the long run, so I decided to purchase this DVD. I thought that it may be more benefitial for me to learn the basic skills from Mr. Wyatt's DVD and then take lessons on intermediate and advance skills (unless Mr. Wyatt do online teaching :D). I've gone through the chords and now into the scales, and thought the experience has been really rewarding. The most important aspect of learning guitar Mr. Wyatt said is to keep practicing, so I am trying my best to be a good student. The product description about the lessons is right on for me. I'm happy with them but one needs to practice. Lessons are just one part of playing a guitar. Keith did a good job in each section. Average Rating:![]() |

Fender Presents: Getting Started on Electric Guitar -- A Guide for BeginnersReviewsThis may very well be a good book, simply not for beginners. I purchased this book and it is over my head. If you have some experience playing the guitar, maybe this book is for you. For the person that knows absolutely nothing (BEGINNERS) about playing the guitar it is definitely the wrong book to start with. it doesn`t work, it goes 2 spanish language at the 2nd chapter, it jumps thtrough chapters. Do read all reviews, ithis problem was indicated to me, but i ignored it and then voila`, i can`t use the CD. I bought at the same time I bought my guitar for dummies kit from Amazon. I read the book that came with my kit then popped this in my DVD player, figuring it would be a visual explanation of what I read with a little more in-depth knowledge. I was sorely mistaken. Don't get me wrong this is a good training tool, IF you know the basics about Guitars, which I do not yet.The instructor on the DVD doesn't talk or teach as if he is teaching a beginner he flies right thought the lessons, and the visual pictures Fender gives you are nothing more then a quick flash, which I would have to rewind then pause so I could see the finger positions for chords. I have a 6 string electric guitar with no time, or money to go to a place and sign up for guitar lessons. That's why I got this item, I did a research on it first before purchasing this (highly recommend doing the research before you buy). I highly recommend this for people who seriously want to learn. Keith Wyatt is a great instructor, you immediately learn so much with the guitar that it's fun, and encouraging. The lessons are not confusing at all, it's simple and point blank. From my experience and point of view, this is probably the best idea I've made concerning my guitar. This dvd has helped me expand my personality on a musical level. Overall, Highly recommended ! Great DVD. Easy to follow. Keith is the best. I have other DVD's on how to play the guitar, However this is by far the best. I have played acoustic for 2 years. For the beginner Keith even teaches you how to operate your amp. This is not stated in the DVD advertisement. All I can say is, "If you are just starting with the electric BUY THIS DVD." Armchair ApocryphaReviewsA master of not only music, but prose, Bird has again struck lyrical gold with 'Aprocrypha'. While some of my days call for the hard core whiskey lyrics of Tom Waits or the techno edge of Laurie Anderson's "Big Science",the crash of Wilco's 'Bull Black Nova', (or, yes, my guilty secret - Jamie Bergeron doing "That Butt Thang") there is nothing better, in a thoughtful, introspective mood than the beautiful lyricism of Bird. And what other artist can make you actually smile by simply whistling? And a xylophone, of all things...... Bird is a master musician, but what I truly love is his skill with storytelling - prominent in his "Scythian Empire" and so very simply in "Spare-oh". Progressive, mesmerizing, and wholly lovely, you will listen over and over. Another great album from Andrew Bird, and continues on the vein of combining science jargon with philosophical musings. As a student of science I really love his playfulness with the subject matter; too many people in the humanities are convinced science is a cold, heartless field where creativity is limited by procedure...when really, it is always within the limitations of procedure that true creativity can blossom. His music is accessible and inspires me to pull out my medical dictionary to explore my future field of expertise. What more can you ask for? There are some people who it seems music just flows through. Melody seems to come so easy that it is almost involuntary, evolutionary, like the bird singing in the tree. There are certain people who are able to write so prolifically and so beautifully that to comprehend you have to accept the fact that no person could hold that much beauty, talent or passion inside. Instead you are made to see that the beauty exists outside them, and their talent is their ability to channel it onto a page or through a speaker, and their passion is to project it at you. Andrew Bird is one of these people. I imagine that he understood the violin before he picked it up for the first time, that the guitar began to play when he first laid eyes upon it, and that the song burst into flames no sooner than he had written it on the page; except that I know they all came into reality with his hard work. I would hope that Bird never stops making beautiful music, except that I know he can't. I just hope that he continues to project it at me, and that he never falls out from the branches of that tree. From A Perfect Circle to Ziggy Marley, my musical taste expands over broad horizons. Therefore, let me say that even through my taste for metal, hip-hop, and classical, there is no CD that comes as close to perfection as this one. Andrew Bird has compiled a digital copy of brilliance and named it "Armchair Apocrypha." I have a theory that a favorite song reflects where the listener is at in his/her life. The tempo, lyrics, and overall sound are all chosen at a deeper level then merely personal choice. I'm not really one for lengthy reviews, so just visit http://grooveshark.com and type in "Scythian Empires." That song is currently my favorite, trumping Diana Kralls soothing and smooth voice or Rage Against the Machines memorable riffs. I have no idea what "Scythian Empires" represents to me personally, so maybe the theory is bogus, but I do know when I listen to it I feel as though everything will be all right. Listen to this song when driving home at night. It. just. fits. This guy, Andrew Bird, is a musical genius. Seems like the bulk of popular music today is generated by a "music selling machine" that bombards us daily with growling voices all trying to sound like Nickelback or performers [I use the word loosely here] who do the American Idol "yodel" trying to hit as many notes in 2 seconds as possible. Be warned Nickelback imitators that just a few years ago another "different" voice was the rage. Creed topped all of the charts and within 2 years were dead and gone. Before that, Hootie and the Blowfish put out a "different" voice and they too went the way of the Dodo. Bird is different. He fuses superb violin, both with bow and with finger picking, with his voice and other instruments and, strange as it may sound, whistling to create music that stands apart. Easy to listen to. Complicated but great. He is categorized in the "Indie Rock" genre. Perhaps that is where we should be looking for the next little while for really good music. Buy it. Average Rating:![]() |

Strip away the music of an Andrew Bird song, and you're left with brilliant prose ("across the great chasms and schisms and the sudden aneurysms"), vignettes about mentally fending off plane crashes, infiltrating characters like the kings of Macedonia and Lou Dobbs, and titles such as "Yawny at the Apocalyspe... |
