I was drawn in by the "low" price. What I didn't notice was $7.99 shipping cost(very subtle) and the 4-5 days to "process" the order. What could possibly take so long to ship this? I'm thinking of canceling the order, with their processing speed I should have plenty of time to make up my mind.

This chart is horrible. It does not list the chords in chromatic order. Top row is A, second row goes down to A-flat, third row goes UP to B, then down to B-flat, so on. If that wasn't bad enough, the last three rows of the chart are F-sharp, G, and G-flat. I am not joking.

This is a poster with chords. It is what it says. Yes.

I love this poster and the price was excellant but I neglected to consider the shipping which turned out to be more than the poster itself. What was I thinking? But I am very pleased with it.

The dvd navigation was not consistent with the written materials and did not present a complete menu. Items were referenced that could not be found on the menu. Perhaps an Amazon issue in handling my return as my request for a replacement was not fulfilled.

This DVD is okay, you see and hear different chords being used to learn in the lessons. It was not what I expected though.

If you're just getting started with guitar, this will be a big help. It's well organized, easy to follow and gives very clear instructions. If you've already got some chords down and can keep a rhythm with the right hand, you probably won't get much from this DVD.

I play this DVD with my 61 inch TV so it's as if Mr. Wyatt is sitting right in front of me, except that I get to rewind and pause any part I need. His teaching style is very easy to follow and the instructions are divided in different categories that enables me to go back and review whenever I like. The temp of the instructions are just right and there are also tons of reference materials. I initially thought of taking lessons from a friend of my sisters but was worried that it will cost too much in the long run, so I decided to purchase this DVD. I thought that it may be more benefitial for me to learn the basic skills from Mr. Wyatt's DVD and then take lessons on intermediate and advance skills (unless Mr. Wyatt do online teaching :D). I've gone through the chords and now into the scales, and thought the experience has been really rewarding. The most important aspect of learning guitar Mr. Wyatt said is to keep practicing, so I am trying my best to be a good student.

The product description about the lessons is right on for me. I'm happy with them but one needs to practice. Lessons are just one part of playing a guitar. Keith did a good job in each section.

Fender Presents: Getting Started on Electric Guitar -- A Guide for Beginners Fender Presents: Getting Started on Electric Guitar -- A Guide for Beginners

This may very well be a good book, simply not for beginners. I purchased this book and it is over my head. If you have some experience playing the guitar, maybe this book is for you. For the person that knows absolutely nothing (BEGINNERS) about playing the guitar it is definitely the wrong book to start with.

it doesn`t work, it goes 2 spanish language at the 2nd chapter, it jumps thtrough chapters. Do read all reviews, ithis problem was indicated to me, but i ignored it and then voila`, i can`t use the CD.

I bought at the same time I bought my guitar for dummies kit from Amazon. I read the book that came with my kit then popped this in my DVD player, figuring it would be a visual explanation of what I read with a little more in-depth knowledge. I was sorely mistaken. Don't get me wrong this is a good training tool, IF you know the basics about Guitars, which I do not yet.The instructor on the DVD doesn't talk or teach as if he is teaching a beginner he flies right thought the lessons, and the visual pictures Fender gives you are nothing more then a quick flash, which I would have to rewind then pause so I could see the finger positions for chords.

I have a 6 string electric guitar with no time, or money to go to a place and sign up for guitar lessons. That's why I got this item, I did a research on it first before purchasing this (highly recommend doing the research before you buy). I highly recommend this for people who seriously want to learn. Keith Wyatt is a great instructor, you immediately learn so much with the guitar that it's fun, and encouraging. The lessons are not confusing at all, it's simple and point blank. From my experience and point of view, this is probably the best idea I've made concerning my guitar. This dvd has helped me expand my personality on a musical level. Overall, Highly recommended !

Great DVD. Easy to follow. Keith is the best. I have other DVD's on how to play the guitar, However this is by far the best. I have played acoustic for 2 years. For the beginner Keith even teaches you how to operate your amp. This is not stated in the DVD advertisement. All I can say is, "If you are just starting with the electric BUY THIS DVD."

Music Theory for Guitarists: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask (Guitar Method) Music Theory for Guitarists: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask (Guitar Method)

Reviews

I'm returning to the guitar after a 20 year lay off, (the whole life getting in the way of art thing) and have found this book really useful, so much in fact my boyfriend, who has been playing for several years, saw it and wanted a copy. I found a lot of really good, well explained lessons in this book. However, I think, if you're new to music it would be a good idea if you had a teacher to work through this book with. Another good book to work out of along side this one is "Guitar Reading Workbook" by Barrett Tagliarino. Both of these books together really give you a good foundation. I use both of these books when I'm away from my guitar. That way I can "practice" without having my guitar with me. Getting an understanding of theory will make you a much better guitar player than simply learning your fave riffs. This is a good book to help get you there.

I've been playing guitar for quite some time, by ear mostly. This book is true to it's title - music theory. But it is applied directly to the guitar. The book filled many gaps in my knowledge such as key signatures, chord construction, and intervals. Well worth the money, I would recomend this book to anyone learning to play or to those with experience but would like to learn the foundation upon which guitar method is built.

I am a novice guitar player with no music background. This book is a great starting point for getting into music theory.

The problem with this book is that while it does a good job of defining things, it doesn't provide the necessary context to explain why they matter. For example, there's a thorough treatment of different keys. But what exactly does it mean to say that a given song is in the Key of C versus the Key of A? The book doesn't provide the basic information about how different musical elements fit together. There's a Wheel of 5ths to show the order of flats and sharps. Great. How do I use that to inform my actual playing? As someone with zero knowledge of music theory, there's still more that I need to know prior to being able to take advantage of this book. The title led me to believe that it included "Everything," i.e. those foundational pieces, but it really doesn't. Unless you already understand music theory, get a different book. This one may do a good job of taking your theory knowledge and applying it to guitar, but it comes up in short in teaching those basics in context.

This book takes a very straight-forward approach to explaining music theory as it relates to the guitar. If you already have a basic understanding of music, the first couple of chapters will mostly be review, but still worthwhile. If you do not read music at all, you'll still find the book useful, as the author does not assume that you have any prior musical knowledge, and starts off with very basic concepts. As someone who knows a little bit about music starting out, but is still struggling with guitar, this has been one of the more helpful books I have added to my guitar library lately. I highly recommend it.

The Beatles Complete Chord Songbook (Guitar Chord Songbook) The Beatles Complete Chord Songbook (Guitar Chord Songbook)

Reviews

Like other reviewers have mentioned, this book doesn't stay open very well ... you will either have to put weight on it to keep it open or, in my case, bending the binding so far back as to nearly make the book fall apart. I recently picked the guitar back up after 8-10 years absence, and this was the first book I purchased shortly thereafter. This book is great for those who like to play the Beatles' music. My wife is surprised at how many Beatles songs she actually knows. ("I didn't know they sang that one, too!"). I would recommend even given the poor size / binding. Would it have been better spiral-bound? Of course, but this book has the chords to your Beatle favorites, and if you're like me, maybe you'll find a few songs that you didn't think you liked as much, but are a joy to strum out the chords.

This is a great book that unlocks the masterful songwriting that was the Beatles. Their use of simple open chords peppered with the occasional jazz chord makes this book a great study of 20th Century songwriting at it's best. Where was this in the sixties?

If you are trying to learn Beatles songs and are used to downloading the chords from the internet, this book is a great find. All the songs are there, and the claim is that they are presented in the original form that the Beatles played. I think that's true for most songs, but maybe not all. That said, I wish the authors had put the measures in for the entire songs, not just the introduction/instrumental parts. If you're an advanced player, it won't matter, but then you probably don't need the chords either, just the lyrics.

I saw this book on Amazon a couple of times, and I figured it was like all of the other Beatles books I've encounterd, way too technical for my playing level. Well I bought it and on the first day I had it I was playing Three Beatles songs. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. But, as most everyone else has said, the binding makes it extremely difficult to manage while playing, and since the other reviewers has found a solution, Thanks everyone, I'll fix the binding and I will be completely satisfied with this book. All for about $20.00. Well worth it!

I bought this for my son and he loves it. He had wanted a book of Beatles songs he could play on his own with his guitar. This book is great for him, give him, cords, notes and words.

Chord Tone Soloing: A Guitarist's Guide to Melodic Improvising in Any Style (Musicians Institute: Private Lessons) Chord Tone Soloing: A Guitarist's Guide to Melodic Improvising in Any Style (Musicians Institute: Private Lessons)

Reviews

Great private lesson book. I finally found the solo improvising material I had been looking for, laid out and explained the best way I've ever seen.

For some reasons I was avoiding this book. I was not that enthusiast after reading some of the negative reviews...but finally I said: ok it's not that expensive and there a re lots of good reviews, so finally I bought it. i glad I did !! There a cool tips, lots of theory but focused in the subject and it's excellent written. I love its appraoch and I'm advancing with it. Give it a try,you won't regret it.

This book is very useful. It is for the intermediate player. You know licks and songs, you sound good with the stuff you know, but looking at changes and using them for impromptu solos is beyond you (except for simplest roots rock, country, and blues). This book will take you to the next level, for all styles, but you will have to work at it. If you already are familiar with basic music theory (diatonic harmony, chord theory, modes), you will get some review. All in all, the book is organized well, encouraging to the student, and a true method as opposed to just a lot of scales/chords/etc. Chord-tone soloing is the basic skill for those who want to play what they hear in their heads as opposed to learning riffs and note-by-note solos. That is what this book is about. I am about 1/3 through and am already improving. This book is not for the beginner or advanced player (you can already solo against some sophisticated changes.)

This is a very unique book. Covers a lot more than I expected it to. I will say, I like the "GUITAR FRETBOARD WORKBOOK" more than this book, but it's a great addition to that. For jazz players like myself, chords are essential, and this really helps demystify a lot of the chord tone soloing ideas that go on. Stars with the basics and works your way up. The MI books are all great. I'd give it a try if you're interested in expanding your knowledge of the fretboard, but if you had to choose one book, get the Guitar Fretboard Workbook.

This is an excellent guide for those who are looking for the right notes to play over chords. I think it's important to grow through this stage of development and I'm glad I chose this work to do it. I also feel it will give you a very good foundation to build toward Victor Wooten's approach. I wouldn't skip this on the way there. I look forward to finishing this and investigating other works in this series.
