Of course if you are a begginer it would be much more interesting, but even if you have been playing for a while like me you will find valuable information on this dvd. Sorry for my english. Hosa CFS606 6 Inch Right Angle FX Pedal Cable, 6 PackReviewsI've only been using them for a few weeks, but they do the job. I can't imagine they'd be very durable, but for the price I'm satisfied. Bought these and they worked great with my Digitech delay, reverb, chorus and Jaman. No noticeable noise added to my ears. They continue to work to this day. They are built tough enough for moderate use and do the job for cheap. GOOD VALUE! A little light in gauge for using many of them, but one or two in a string is ok. These cables work, they're cheap, and they sound fine. You can get a 6-pack of pedal cables for the standard price of a single "budget" pedal cable. As such, these seem good for musicians just playing for fun at home. My ear can't tell the difference between these and more expensive "budget" cables. These cables definitely feel cheap, with very thin cables between the nickle plated jacks. However, given the short distance between pedals, I haven't noticed a change in sound compared to thicker cables. Because of how thin these cables are, they are good for practice at home, but I'd want something more reliable for gigging. If you play an expensive guitar through an expensive amp, or require reliability for gigs, you may want an expensive cable to complete the package. For those playing cheap guitars through cheap amps, or just fooling around and having fun at home or with friends, these cables do the job for 1/6 the price of the closest competition. they do the trick for the money. it seems the molded ends could be more solid to the cable. i have better ones, but they work. The Tao of YoReviewsThe Yohimbe Brothers second recording, "The Tao of Yo," may not be as solid or cohesive an effort as their debut album, "Front End Lifter," but that doesn't make it any less interesting or entertaining. Featuring shorter tracks and a sense of stylistic variety that could sink less accomplished artists, the Yohimbe Brothers offer up a multi-genre work that defies pat categorization. Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid and DJ Logic are the Yohimbe Brothers, but as with their previous effort, invited guest musicians make more than just mere cameos. With a roster of contributors that varies from tune to tune, the album boasts a smattering of undersigned talent. Numerous emcees, a cadre of female back up singers, live drummers and even a tap dancer all make appearances. Veering from the afro-electro-clash opener, "Shine For Me" and the neu-metal riff-rap of "TV" to the Latin flavored "No Pistolas" and outward to the spastic, Inspector Gadget quoting breakbeat/bop mash-up "Unimportance," almost no genre remains untouched. And while the album lacks a coherent sense of sonic focus it is never short of ingenuity. Reid's playing is, as expected, phenomenal, embodying everything from delicate acoustic strumming to Coltrane-esque sheets of sound while Logic contributes his usual selection of atmospheric sounds and unconventional beats. Despite the album's "kitchen-sink" aesthetic, there is a lyrical thread that connects the disparate styles. "The Tao of Yo" may sound like a party record on first listen, but is actually a party record for the revolution. Political Rap may currently be relegated to the underground, but this is the territory the Yohimbe Brothers call home. Switching from Ropeadope to Thirsty Ear's Blue Series is a natural move for the duo as its equitable blend of Hip-Hop, Rock, Pop, Jazz and Ethnic music fits squarely into the overall concept that the Blue Series has engendered, considering their dedication to eliminating the boundaries between divergent genres. "The Tao of Yo" is another fine offering from a duo who are far more than the sum of their parts. Average Rating:![]() |

Guitar Effects Pedals the Practical Handbook Book/CD (Softcover)ReviewsYou're better off getting this book at your local library reading it and returning it. It's a bit dated and lacking in detail. After your finished with it it's not one of those books you wish you had on your bookshelf. It's a good read. Has some valuable tips. But, it is what it is. A far better choice would be: "Analog Man's Guide to Vintage Effects." Fascinating book. Well-written. Tons of photos and other illustrations. And "Analog Mike" who has written it is The Man when it comes to all things stomp box. YMMV. I KNOW THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF EFFECTS PEDALS OUT THERE. I BOUGHT THIS TO FIND OUT WHAT EACH TYPE DOES. THIS BOOK IS VAGUE !!! THE AUTHOR REALLY SEEMED LIKE HE WAS STONED. I THOUGHT HE WOULD COVER FOR EXAMPLE PHASERS, HERE IS WHAT PHASERS DO. INSTEAD WITH EACH CATEGORY HE DID A ONE PAGE RAMBLE WRITING, IT SORTA DOES THIS, BUT NOT REALLY, AND KINDA LIKE THAT, BUT SOTA LIKE THIS. I COULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE SPECIFIC INFORMATION FROM A SALESMAN. HE SPENT TO MUCH TIME ON HISTORY, BLAH,BLAH. THIS BOOK WAS A WASTE OF MONEY, PERIOD. Hello... About my item, the book is ok, but the incluided CD went broken inside of the book! What I do now? I would like to receive another CD. Regards Márcio Batista Hunter writes very good guitar books and I own a number of them, including this one. Guiter Effects Pedals is well-written. To the extent it has a problem, however, it's coverage. One book, at a point in time, can only hope to cover the barest fraction of the available pedals and makers - even the major ones. Even Guitar Player magazine can't keep up, in spite of their long-running Stompbox Fever series. Along similar lines, it's hopeless to try to cover anything beyond bits and pieces of the philosophies underlying maker's approaches, technology trends, and controversial topics (like true bypass). As a result, while everything in Guitar Effects Pedals is accurate and usable, it inevitably comes off as feeling limited, even dated to a degree. I have to knock a star off for its limits. What it does cover is excellent, however. I think what most players are really looking for when they buy this book is another Dave Hunter title: The Electric Guitar Sourcebook: How to Find the Sounds You Like. Limited in similar ways, still, it takes a more holistic approach to the end sound, considering the entire chain from guitar to the amp. Check it out. So, why did I buy Guitar Effects Pedals? Primarily for the interviews with the early major makers in the back of the book. Buy this book if there's something specific inside of interest, or perhaps if you are just starting out considering effects pedals. Don't be suprised after reading this book, though, when someone starts a conversation about pedal effects in entirely new territory. I bought this hoping that it would explain the difference in how certain effects pedals achieve their sounds. Although there is a chapter in the book which outlines the basics of the different catagories of effects, it does not elaborate on the details of how they alter the signal. The majority of the book is a history of effects pedals, listing the popular products from various manufacturers as well as a list of famous pedal designers. I wanted to read about components on the inside of pedals and what each one does in depth. This book does not give you that. Average Rating:![]() |

How to Modify Guitar Pedals: A complete how-to package for the electronics newbie on how to modify guitar and bass effects pedalsReviewsYes you can search on the internet for pedal mods- which I did. And find material to modify your pedal. But is the information accurate? If it's not - you have a problem. Your pedal will sound like crap or better yet it won't work at all. You can take it apart and figure out what you have to do from A to Z and by the time you do that you can waste hours. And no it doesn't cost money - but it cost valuable time. Or --- you can buy this WELL, RESEARCHED, AND ORGANIZED book and do it right the first time. I'd rather buy the book - which I did. And everything is laid out in simple layman's terms on EXACTLY what to do from start to finish to modify your pedal. And my DS-1 sounds GREAT! Brian mentions in the book HIS SOURCES if he has used other people's ideas and gives their name (if an individualand/or company of the source) and then explains what he did differently to come up with his particular modified sounding pedal. I was impressed that he would do this which conveys to me that he is a very upright and honest man. His book is well laid out, with pictures that are very helpful which show where to place the new component for the mod, and organized. If you are a beginner or experienced with a degree I see a purpose for both with Brian's book. I am a guitar player and have personally talked with Brain on the phone, ordered his book's AND have had excellent and fast service each time I dealt with him. The negative reviews on here I doubt they have bought the book and have no idea what they are talking about, and obviously, neither do they. Written by a guitar player who has modded one of my own pedals using Brain's book and built and designed my own unique sounding boutique pedal - again using Brian's book. Hi everyone and prepare yourselves for sad news about these 332 sheets of paper pasted togher... I'm not calling it a book, even if this item is sold in cathegory "books". Do not be mislead by the number of pages (334!), the same amount of information could have been well set on 100 pages. The author just prefers to leave about 50% of every page empty. Add to this a completely awful editorial layout and poor quality black and white photos. Still if you are not confused by the mentioned above info and want to use this "book" to modify pedals you'd better get yourself a big magnifying glass because all the electric diagrams are barely traceable and every simgle one seems to be a reprint of some bad qality bleached photocopy of a scheme which in its turn had been printed by an old dot-matrix printer, and with all this quality the author had the conscience to downscale every scheme to fit a single page. Could you imagine anything worse? Alas, Brian is the man who can make things even worse yet: some of electric diagrams are in freehand which shows first of all that he author doesn't descend on using a ruler and doesn't care in general to make the lines right and straight and the overall scheme inviting to the eye... Who needs computer graphics these days when there is a pen and trembly hand?! The text itself is very jerky: first the author tries to make an introduction of electric components rudimentals but in a very hurried and patchy manner, then for some reason he gives a detailed description of what electronic parts could be found in this or that internet shop (a small embedded advertising?) and then he finally goes to the description of guitar pedal mods. A small surprise: there is NO general info about modifying, there is just a collection of mods to some particular pedals which reader could even not have. No referencies to the mods' authors, but sometimes the author gets honest in his own way and writes laconically "found on web". Conclusion: we all want to earn money, Brian Wampler is not an exception. He piled together some guitar pedal mod recipes found on web (a process that could take some time indeed), retrenched editing expenses by not having any layout designer at all, inflated the book's volume for a better presentability by adding as much useless space as he was able to (things that could happen innocent of wrong intention when your print your book using some simple text editors not suitable for book editing), and then Brian desided to sell this all for a price that is much higher in comparison with many other books of considerably better quality sold on Amazon. Dear Brian, no hard feelings, but this was the most expensive and hardened toilet paper I have ever bought. Dear guitar pedals' mod fans, you'd better spend some time on the Internet and you'll find much more info and for free! PS I wanted to send it back for refund, but the very delivery of it from Russia costs about 80% of the book's price (yeah, that is what we have about regular post service prices here), so this review is the only way I can renumerate the author with. Good book that, in no uncertain terms, will help you get beyond a basic understanding of guitar electronics mods and wiring. If you own 1+ pedals described within, you will be able to tweak your tone and do it forth-with. The production values and editing leave a bit to be desired, but if you look at the supplied pix, and read the cause-and-effects bits as broken out at the end of each chapter, you will begin to understand how guitar FX circuts function and how you can tweak your own pedels (like one's not mentioned within) to your own satisfaction. Don't think of this book as the ultimate 'how-to' bible, but rather an information source in how to tweak current to guitar effect. My Hubby is starting to make his own pedals and he couldn't put this book down! He said it was worth its money in gold as it gave him a different perspective. Good buy and it was delivered earlier than expected. Thank you. If you really want to get the most out of your stock pedals, then you need to modify them. This books tells you exactly what to do, and how to do it right. There is no need to buy $400 boutique pedals, when you can mod your own for a few bucks, and end up with the killer tones you've been looking for. This book is worth every cent!!!
